The Early Days
Aussie by birth, Chinese by culture, chef Tim Ong grew up in the quaint city of Perth, Western Australia and initially was destined to be an accountant. However, with the financial crisis in 2008 and his passion for food, Tim went to culinary college to complete a course in hospitality. His appetite for knowledge and natural talent led him to accelerate his apprenticeship and moved to Singapore to work for Michelin starred chef Emmanuel Stroobant.
Restaurants and Businesses
Taking his first head chef position at the age of 23, Ong continued his learning and worked with Michelin star chefs such as Christophe Muller (Executive Chef at L'Auberge Du Pont de Collonges) and Henrik Yde Andersen (Kiin Kiin, Copenhagen); being a consultant to numerous restaurant openings throughout South East Asia.
In The Media
Tim has also had a taste in the media scene starring on Asia Food Channel’s – Amazing Food Challenge Fun in the Philippines and Mediacorp’s EatListStar, both on air and behind the scenes. With guest chef appearances for The Weekender’s Foodmania Awards, showcasing the latest kitchen equipment range from Garland or writing a top 10 recipe for Simply Her Singapore, Tim is no stranger in the industry.
Tim has been heading up Asia’s largest kid's culinary program for the last 5 years, Super Chef, where he has taught over 2000 kids. It has become an international success being awarded as one of the top 9 cooking schools in the world by SilverKris – Kris Fliers travel magazine with students travelling from all over the world to attend the program.
